Colorectal cancer screening in Bern and Solothurn

Colonoscopy is an effective method of preventing bowel cancer. If polyps are detected early, more serious problems can be avoided. Who can take part(inclusion criteria)?

The Cantonal Colorectal Cancer Screening Program is aimed at symptom-free people with an average risk of colorectal cancer.

  • Age between 50-74 years
  • Resident in the canton of Bern or Solothurn
  • No current bowel complaints (e.g. blood in the stool)
  • No colonoscopy within the last 10 years

Persons with complaints:

The screening program is not intended for people with bowel complaints that require clarification. If you are unsure, it is best to discuss the procedure with your family doctor or contact us.

Registration

The registration must always take place before the examination. Please let us know when you make your appointment that it is a screening colonoscopy as part of the program. online registration is still required even if you have already been registered for a colonoscopy by your GP. If you live in the canton of Bern and are between 50-69 years old, you canrequest an invitation with your personal reference number at any time.
